My idea stems from the idea of creating a new solution to the bent ply process used to make the shells of the Eames Lounge. By utilizing laser cut patterns you are able to easily bend plywood into radius only possible with steam and heat before. The idea would be to use this process and careful kerf geometry to shape a plywood sheet into a sandal. The kerf pattern would be optimized to provided maximize flexibility the outsole. The hope is to create a pattern that allows the plywood sheet to move effortlessly with the contours of the foot.
