Cinco was tasked with helping bring Nixon's first fully featured smartwatch to market. The challenge was to keep the Nixon DNA in the forefront when designing and implementing the watch features. With a market that was surely to be saturated, Nixon wanted a design that would stand out from it's competitors. The Mission was born to be a watch dedicated to Nixon's core consumer; A smartwatch that was tailored the surf and snow enthusiast and the extreme conditions they thrive in.
My biggest contribution to the project was taking the original design brief/sketch and modeling/detailing out the smartwatch base. Lots of design details were fine tuned to physically and visually slim the watch. A lot of details were refined in order to fit the active lifestyle user we were hoping to reach with the design. The size was largely dictated by the module, but we pulled out all the tricks in order to slim that watch while retaining the needed 10 ATM rating and other necessary features.

We created an all-new waterproof microphone lock allowing us to deliver to market the first smart watch you could surf in.
The Mission also sports a customizable modular construction and bombproof case complete with a bolt-on raised bezel and durable gorilla glass.
