While at Cinco I was asked to help design a new high performance minimal snowboard helmet. The minimalist aesthetic, low-profile design of the Code is stacked with high-tech features. The goal was to make a top performing helmet for those who wanted their skill make the statement and not the gear.
This Code is the first true solution for advanced riders that want superior protection and functionality with a minimal look. Here is a few ways in which we were able to keep the exterior profile slim and pack as much tech as possible
The Code features a progressive technical knit liner. All the seams have been minimized for comfort and the details on the interior have been heat-sealed vs sewn to minimize the profile. These small changes to construction allows us to pack as many features as before in a much slimmer liner.
The strap anchors have been moved from bring riveted to to the inside of the helmet to being sewn to these external rail pieces. This pushes these traditionally bulky connections to outside the helmet and lets us gain a bit room inside the helmet.
We opted for a clean exterior with minimal venting which allowed us to minimize the overall profile of the helmet. The clean exterior meant we had to optimize the vents air path to keep the rider cool. The internal structure of the helmet has channels that help guide cool air from the front intakes over the riders head and out the rear vents.
We used the tech liner to also house and hide a few of the helmets fit features, the BOA 360 fit system is neatly integrated into the liner and helps hide the tech in plain sight.
